Tests include the following with consultation by an optometrist:
Visual acuity measures your eye's ability to distinguish an object's details at a given distance.
Common refractive errors include:
Hyperopia (farsightedness)
Myopia (nearsightedness)
Astigmatism (irregular curvature of the cornea)
Presbyopia (age-related farsightedness)
Slit Lamp Examination looks at the anterior (front) eye structures and can diagnose conditions such as:
Cataracts
Cornea disease or injury
Sclera damage
Dry eye syndrome
Tonometry is a diagnostic test that measures the intraocular pressure (IOP) or the pressure of your eye. High eye pressure increases your risk of developing eye conditions such as Glaucoma, optic nerve damage and irreversible vision loss.
Ultra-wide Field Imaging enables us to capture a wider shot of the retina, to aid the diagnosis of conditions such as retinal holes or detachments.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that takes cross-section scans of the retina to see the many layers of the retina. It aids diagnosing many eye conditions such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular hole, pucker, oedema, Glaucoma, Central Serous Retinopathy and Optic Nerve Disorders.
Visual Field Test examines how wide of an area your eye can see when you focus on a central point to determine if you have blind spots in your vision. People with conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure have a greater risk of developing blocked blood vessels in the optic nerve and retina and need visual field tests to monitor the progression.
